Regula Dettwiler deconstructs artificial flowers found at markets worldwide.Returning from her botanical fieldtrips she paints the series of Orchids made in China with watercolors and pencil on paper just like Alexander of Humboldt had done 200 years earlier.
The manipulation of nature for human purposes appears again in this work, where the artist uses a laser cutter to imitate with the means of fallen leaves drawings of Rorschach tests, widely used for psychological analysis.According to Regula: “Nature is a mirror and a protective screen of our desires and fears.”

Mayflower opens it´s legendary store on the 15th of November 1955 at the corner of Carrer Balmes and Travessera de Gracia in Barcelona.Pioneering floral design it has instilled a strong passion for flowers and plants within the family members along several generations. This strong aura as an innovative and fulfilling family business has influenced Cristina Calzada to realize her studies of floral design in various specialized schools in Spain and abroad to finish as a master florist. Having developed a professional career in the flower trade over a period of 30 years, Cristina launches in 2013 a new entrepreneurial venture by opening a concept store at Travessera de Gracia and Tuset – just a few steps away from the original location of Mayflower. The new extended shop not only offers flowers of the highest quality but also features a curated selection of decorative accessories, contemporary fine art and personalized workshops in horticultural design.
We owe the fact that Mayflower can celebrate a history and experience of nearly 60 years to countless individual clients that we have the honor and pleasure to offer our services day by day and that very generously have allowed us to participate in so many special moments of their lives. And indeed, we also highly appreciate the trusted business we do with many prestigious companies, institutions and organizations such as Abertis, British Council ,Fabio de Minicis and Círculo Ecuestre- to just name a few.
